Cocoa Processing Company Limited (CPC) based in Tema was established in 1965.
The company comprises three factories: two Cocoa Factories and a Confectionery Factory. The company processes raw cocoa beans into semi-finished products - Cocoa Liquor, Butter, Natural/Alkalized Cake Or Powder whilst the Confectionery Factory manufactures the Golden Tree Chocolate Bars, Couverture, and many more. The Cocoa Factories have an annual throughput of 65,000 metric tonnes of Premium Ghana Cocoa beans.
Background
CPC is noted as being the oldest timeware® installation in Ghana. This four terminal project was installed in early 2004 during a period of business expansion when the management realised the need for an automated time recording device. With staff levels passing 600, an effective and accurate way of recording time was required and a working party began researching a reliable solution.
After several presentations by Lordson Abasa-Addo, visisure (West Africa) was awarded the contract and began the installation process.
Time for biometrics
In 2012 the management team decided that biometric terminals should be acquired and within two months the old mag-stripe terminals were replaced with the latest timeware® biometric technology.
Major impact
The streamlining of the overtime authorisation process and the improvements made to the absence monitoring has greatly reduced the workload of the ‘time clock team’.
